Residential Thermal Storage home heating systems were designed and built in the 1980s. The primary purpose was for the home to store energy in the night during off peak time when the electric company charged a lower rate and release the electric during peak times to reduce the close of use for the owner. Home owners using PP&L services can get a discounted rate on their electric bill for having residential thermal storage units. However, since the 1980s home heating systems are much more efficient. Upgrading to a high heating system or geothermal system may allow you to get a tax credit.
